That’s me Trying.
First off, thanks to the family that came and helped me move. I know I continue to accumulate more crap every time I move. Props to Gordon, Brian, and a less than energetic Michael in helping me move 3 pinball machines. Special props to Gordon who helped me move the Dr. Who down some stairs. And it looks like my gum ball machine was a hit. A big thanks go to Dad, Mom, Christi and Crystal as well.
Family is what it’s all about at the end of the day. Remove all my possessions, the gum ball machine, the TV system, the computers, my job, my church calling. In the end, without all those possessions, I still have these people who Love me, and are willing to drive an entire state away to help me move.
I Love ya’ll.
Needless to say I am not really replying to e-mail right now. If I can de-pack and de-junk all my crap, then I’ll jump on sooner, but don’t expect answers anytime soon. As I continue to make my way through my crap, and find that I have even more crap. Right now, I’ve been able to clear out a small place on the kitchen sink that is clean.
I’m dang proud of that little square of clean goodness. Don’t begrudge me that pride.
Two computers are up and running. I do have a fear that once I start bringing all the computers/Tivos/Xboxs/Coin operated cruft on line my neighbors are going to start experiencing rolling black-outs.
Those of you who swing by here know that I’m a serious music junky. It goes beyond junky. I find so much to identify with many songs. Songs can make you happy, make you sad, bring back memories of a Lost love, or a Love that never was.
If you look on my Rio MP3 player you’ll find that I have a rather eclectic taste in music. Before I my family showed up in the ole Cheytown I created myself a playlist on the player called “Chris’s guilty Pleasure”. This contains about 21 of the sappy Romantic songs that I tend to listen to, as well as some good Rocker tunes. Some of these songs include
– Beverly Hills – Weezer
– American Hi-Fi – The Geeks Get the Girls
– Cyndi Lauper – Time After Time
– Our Lady Peace – Somewhere Out There
– Wham! – Wham Rap
– Ugly Kid Joe – Cats In The Cradle
– Kelly Clarkson – Since U Been Gone (Remember this one Brian?)
– William Shatner – That’s me Trying
Now some of you may not know who William Shatner is. He’s Captian Kirk from Star Trek. Back in the 70’s he released a Album called “The Transformed Man”. The thing that makes people remember what he sings is the fact that instead of singing, he talks through the songs. It’s bad. It’s so bad, it’s almost good. (You’ll see him making fun of himself on Priceline commercials, and an episode of Futurama)
Well, he does the same thing in “Has Been”. In this Album, he manages to almost pull it off. The song “That’s Me Trying” Tells the story of an estranged Father and Daughter. It has Ben Folds providing background vocals.
Did I say it almost pulls it off? It does. It’s good. It’s introspective, it’s sad. He’s amazing.
Have I mentioned that if William Shatner started an acting school, I’d take some vacation and attend it? If David Hasselhof were to be a co-owner, I’d quit work, and learn at the feet of these two masters.
I mean, anyone who can act as bad/overact at the level these two do on screen and still get all these women/space babes has to know a thing or two.
I need to learn a thing or two.
I am slightly disturned over the David Hasselhoff comment, but am very glad to hear that you have more affection for your family than a gumball machine. Strangely, I can relate to you that one, but not on the other.
