Not much happening

Managed to survive this last week being on call.

On Saturday I had the Utah guys show up to pick up their pins. About 2 pm they showed up with a truck and a U-haul trailer.

As soon as they got here we drove over to the Ops place (I found some pins/vids at a laundry mat, so they *are* an Op)

We showed up and we proceeded to look at the pins. Jeff (guy from Utah) proceeded to look around and he found a complete boardset for the games in his warehouse!) That means that I don’t have to go out onto e-scam e-bay to find these boards. That is roughly 400 clams that I don’t have to shell out!

So we walked around the back of his warehouse, there were a ton of marquees, some boards, a few control panels and coin doors. The Utah guys went through and found some parts that they wanted. I didn’t find any parts but I learned a boatload from these two. Jeff owns something like 17 pins and 40+ vids. I also found that he had lived in Rancho Cucamonga (where I served my mission). He was an Op as well! Now he’s a collector.

It was awesome.

The four pins I acquired were:

Doctor Who
Pinbot
Shaq Attaq
Spring Break

Time to fix them up, create some shop out guides and find more games (and bird dog the one I already found.

Oh, I believe that as soon as the next version of wordpress comes out, I will be moving to it.

Here I sit at the last Day of training weekend after training. I have a LOT to get done!

  • Get Some Strech Wrap
  • Get the On Call Pager
  • Secure places for the Pinballs
  • Clean out Truck
  • Talk to the Pinball Operator
  • Write my Arcade Inventory Prog
  • Write for RMA for the power on my laptop.
  • Write this Blog Entry
  • Other Stuff, which I’ve forgotten (Curse my old age!)
  • Buy Stuff, and fix up accounts.
  • Buy a Playfield Rotisierre
  • Buy a Parts Tumbler
  • Get My Cola Machine Fixed.
  • Oil My Truck
  • Clean the Bathroom
  • Send off the Rio Unit I have to get fixed.
  • Deposit some money
  • Get a bottom created for my Fishtales (part of the Grand Fishtales restoration)
  • Actually.. Glue together my Fishtales
  • Go to the farmers market

And on, and on, etc etc…

Ad to the fact that I have fallen off the wagon while here in Denver. Since the food is free, I’ve been gaining weight, I can tell. So. It’s time to exersize and Diet again! Woot!

Gots to remember what else I need to do, but my brain. It’s fried (and there was some important things I wanted to do, to!)

I’m Crazy Al, And I’m going CRAZY about Pinball.

Hello, My name is Chris.

I have a hobby.

I have an addiction ;)

So, this past weekend, I went and bought myself 13 Pinball Machines. Putting my herd up to 16 Pins! But thank goodness, not for long as I will have two collectors from Utah coming up and buying 9 of the pins, and Tyson may buy one as well.

Here’s how it all went down:

Three weeks ago, I was picking up my Killer Insinct 2 and I was talking to the soon to be laid off Tech and he said “I don’t want to piece out these pins. I’ll sell these 12 for 3k.” I asked about another pin, and he threw that in as well.

But these were EM and early SS pins! I am outta my league! So I sat on it. I showed Alan the pins, I thought about dropping the price. I posted to RGP about it. I posted to the Utah Video Game Collectors list about it.

And I sat on it.

The tech was laid off.

I went in to the op’s place, and he talked to me about selling me three of the pins for 3k. Meanwhile I had a collector in Utah start emailing me and offering to buy a majority of the pins ( I had taken pictures of the pins and he saw them in my Gallery and he liked what he saw.

So after much coaching from him, I went in to the Op and said the following

Me: Your tech offered to sell me these 13 pinball machines for 3k. I have a friend, and we are willing to pay that much for all of these pins for that much. I can give you cash today for the pins.

Him: Ahh hmmm… Well this pin, it only has cosmetic problems.

Me: And this pin is missing boards

Him: Ahh hmmm.

He looks at me, looks at the pins, looks at me, looks back at the pins.

Him: Ok, I will give them to you for that price. You are getting one heck of a deal.

Me: I know.

So then, I had to go and find any money I could to complete this deal. Now I am just waiting for the two collectors to come down from Utah this Saterday to pick up their games.

So for this brief period of time, I am the owner of 16 pinball machines!

Without much further ado here they are:

I’ll get more info on the 13 pins I bought soon.

Right now, I’m just hanging out, late at night, in my hotel room. Attending training in Denver.

Saw Tyson. Hung with Denverites, and I’ve got to sleep soon!

Ug, in between restore arcade games, dating girls, and doing church calling. I haven’t had time to post a lot. This will change. I promise.
