I am a big fat Transformers Nerd
If you’ve been reading this blog at all, you’d know that I am a nerd. I am the nerds nerd.
You’ll also know that I grew up watching Transformers, and even had a tramatic experience with the Transformers Movie (“One shall stand, one shall fall”)
So, I’m all kinds of paranoid that Michael Bay (Maker of “The Island”, a movie that had product placement every 1 minute) is making this film. The conceptual drawings of the transformers are making me nervous as well.
Alas, I did totally freak out when I read this Interview with Peter Cullen, aka Optimus Prime about how he’s doing the voice in the Movie. Interesting interview, but by far more entertaining are the comments to the article
I’d just like to add that at the end of the interview, I asked Peter to say something in the voice of Optimus Prime. What he said will be played on an upcoming podcast. It may also become my ringtone. That man is my hero.

And
Optimus Prime was my hero as a child, and seeing him die on the big screen was dispicable of Marvel Productions. Imagine Luke Skywalker dieing in Return of the Jedi. There are just some things you don’t do. You don’t kill Bambi, You don’t shoot Bugs Bunny, and you don’t kill a childhood hero on the movie screen. Period. The fact that Peter Cullen is coming on board with the live action movie will help heal the scar I received as a child.

and finally
I was totally crushed and betrayed when Optimus Prime was killed. To this day, that’s still one of the only scenes in a movie that makes me choke up just a little. And for what? Hot Rod? Argh! I wanted to light someone on fire for that crap.
I am overjoyed that Peter is doing the voice.
