Transfer Time?
Here we are..in November of 2006. It’s crazy how time flies. Just in a few weeks, I’ll be down to 7 months…plus I’ll be transfered to a new area. Yup…the transfer date is Nov. 21st. I just have about 2 more weeks of Wilson…thank goodness. It has been a good area, but seriously, there are not many things to do…it drives me crazy, cause I want to be busy all the time but there is just no possible way. Anyways, it was a good week. The highlight of it all was our temple trip to Apex. Well, Tuesday night was Halloween also. But, we had to be back in the apartment by 7 o’clock (mission rule). I guess we couldn’t trick or treat
as mormon missionaries. Oh well, it was a good day. Friday was a crazy day…as we had to get up a little early to be out the door at 7 in the morning to be at the temple on time. Brother Woodard took us all to Apex…and it was a very very interesting ride. I had to sit in the front seat both the ride up and the ride back. Brother Woodard talked alot, he is a DJ, and he loves talking. I was pretty much worn out after the trip, but the temple was a great experience. It took us about 3 hours to return home (usually a 1 hour trip), because DJ Brother JAW (the DJ name of Brother Woodard), ran a few errands in Raleigh. It was depressing, seeing my two old areas again (Cary and Raleigh), because they looked so much better than Wilson. All the buildings, all the cars, all the trees..all the normal people.
Sergio was the only one that came to church this last week. He is progressing quite well. We’re going to see if we can set a baptismal date for him. The only problem is that he might be in it for the wrong reasons (financial help from the church), so we are going to play it safe. Our other sweet investigators, Rafael and Yareli, could not make it to church, because Yareli just had her baby a few days ago. It made me think alot about Crystal…cause the baby is going to come fast. When I first met Yareli, I couldn’t even tell she was pregnant…and it seems like I just met them yesterday. Time just flies!
Do I always talk about the same things in my e-mails?? I hope not, I really hope you all enjoy the in-depth view into the world of Elder Hardy. I really do enjoy doing missionary work, although it can be repetative at times..especially here in Wilson. But, it’s fun being a missionary, I would recommend it to anyone. I have really learned how to be independent, but at the same time work with a partner to accomplish things (sounds a lot like marriage..haha). Really, I have gained a new perspective on the church and how lucky we are to be members of the true church. It’s unreal and sometimes depressing how many people do not want to listen and participate of the blessings. This really is the true church and the way to return to our Heavenly Father. Sometimes, people do not realize that or just do not want to realize it. That is one of the most frustrating parts of being a missionary.
So, back to transfers…only in 2 weeks…I kind of got 2 possible choices..Burlington or Chapel Hill. Burlington has more members but Chapel Hill is a sweet area. We all think that I’ll end up in Chapel Hill.
Well, have a good week everyone,
Elder Hardy
