Fun Times
We went to a bed and breakfast with a couple of good friends of ours over the last two days. It was a fun time, being with good friends and getting away from it all. I think that is what makes life special, is old friends, good friends, and a time to enjoy each other.
Scary Times
Couple of things tonight made me think about how scary the times are right now.
1-National Credit Problems-Well, we could be on the verge of a recession. It appears that the mortgage credit problems that have started to plague the economy could be worse than it appeared originally, and we could be heading into a recession. Oh how I hate recessions.
2-Christie Hardy, my daughter in law, is sounding more and more like she may be close to going into labor. Our problem, well, we are 8 hours away by car. We are getting scared we won’t make it in time.
3-The election for city council is less than two weeks away. While I am no longer in the race, I am still involved and it makes me scared to think about the what could happens. I am glad, and then not glad, that I am not in the race. I hear all types of rumors, including that the primary election was somehow not totally above board. I doubt that, but it does bother me.
Having said all that, I am happy with who I am, who my children are, and where I am at right now. I love my family.
Meeting after Meeting
I have been involved in a number of political activities in the last couple of weeks. Even with me being out of the political race, things haven’t stopped. In some ways I wish I were in, and in a lot of ways, I am glad that I am not. The next two or three weeks should prove to be enlightening.
A Movin and A Shaken
Well, we spent this last weekend moving the second oldest of the Hardy Sons, and his darling wife. I won’t say that it was incredibly fun, but it was incredibly satisfying to have almost all of the family there, helping each other. I guess I am really proud of my family. They are a “bunch” of wonderful people. The trip to and from Wyoming, was as always, long, and not so satisfying. However, we were kept safe from harm, so I am grateful. For the Grandpa of course, one of the highlights was seeing once again my grandson. Braxton is so cute. Anticipation is running high that we will soon have a new granddaughter. We were grateful to see all the family.

Consuming Mass Quantities
There are some real funny Saturday Night Live skits by the “Coneheads” about consuming mass quantities of beer and other such items. Well, our society, particularly me, have begun to consume mass quantities of information. I have so much stuff now stored on my computer that I could say that I have at least a gezillion books of information. I know I have a lot of photographs and other such items that are on there. We have become an information society, consuming vast quanitities of information for storage, use, manipulation, and so forth. It is a crazy society we live in, enabled to do more, make more mistakes, etc., invade more privacy, all by Computers.

Emergency Response
The Hardy family had a traumatic experience today. Daughter Julie was in an automobile accident and the “old blue” Camry was totaled. Luckily, Julie was not totaled. Instead, she was shaken up and upset. I am glad she was OK. It was not a fun day for her, or for me. I praise God that she was only shaken up. She called on the cell phone and I, because I had a cell phone that allowed immediate communication, was able to make an emergency response and get to her quickly. It was a challenging day.
Here is a picture of the unfortunate car. At least the driver of the car is safe:

So Much For Politics
Well, for a little while I considered a write in campaign for the city council seat. However, due to the insufficient time, and the lack of organization or contacts on my part I decided that there was just not sufficient amount of time to wage the campaign and win.
The other thing that weighed on my decision was the fact that I have a new grand daughter coming in about a month and also my son moving in mid month. With all of that going on, the decision was to get out of the race. I will have to bide my time and decide whether I am going to run in two years.
