Family& My Wife26 Sep 2005 07:13 pm

Well, as if it wasn’t enough to have a son really sick, the wife got a migraine starting on Saturday night and as of Monday night, it was still going strong. These types of things tend to come in groups, like Hurricanes I guess. What will happen next?

Children. What I am going to do with them. One of my progeny is very sick and has been reluctant to go to the doctor. Luckily, his wife has got him there. One thing I have learned is that your health is more important than anything, including money. Don’t mess around with your health, whoever you are that may read this.

I went out visiting with the Bishop tonight. Thank goodness he had an agenda because I didn’t know who we should go see. Well, we visited some homes where there is some trouble, and I came away from this evening with the Bishop so convinced that I am very blessed having the family and spouse that I have. That is particularly the case with my wife. She is wonderful, and the kids, despite their craziness, are wonderful too. I need to do this more often, at least so the family will know how much I appreciate them.

I hate it when you wake up in the middle of the night, the brain clicks on, in spite of your best efforts to dumb it down and whamo, it is time to walk around the house and try to be useful to someone, somehow. It happened to me last night. I woke up and then it was a game of try and keep from waking up the wife.

I must admit, I wasn’t successful either, because she was totally awake too and I could hear her snorting around. Now it is early afternoon and I am wasted. Someone needs to change the model architecture so this stuff doesn’t happen to us. Hey Chris, you computer guys should have a solution to this problem. After all, you invented computers, the internet, and everything else we enjoy including category 5 hurricanes.

The kids will appreciate the fact that I have come up with a description for a category 25 hurricane. It is called a Super Cyclone Snowball. That is an inside joke. Well, I am getting punchy so I had better quite while I am behind.

Ain’t that the name of a Beatles Song. It describes however how I feel. I was crazy enough to volunteer to head up a committee on the Payson Chamber of Commerce board for the Shop Payson Exposition. Yesterday was the big day at the Payson Market Shopping lot. I was the “guy in charge” which means I had to be there all day long.

It also means that I had to emcee the event, make decisions, and put up and take downt he event. I am getting too old for this kind of thing. It is something for younger people to do. This was one of those times when I said i would do it, everyone around the meeting table looked dumbounded and quickly wrote down my name before I could change my mind. All I know for sure is that next year yours truly won’t make the same mistake. It was a successful day, I think, but I am bone weary, even after a night of sleep.

Observations on the World13 Sep 2005 06:22 am

We as human beings have lost our Soul. I come from a simpler time, comparitively speaking. A slower time, a time when loyalty meant more. Now, we live in a time when the almighty dollar is everything to everyone. We live in a time when people through others out with the bath water. We live in a time when a company has no loyalty to it’s employees, and likewise, the employees have no loyalty to their employeer.

We come from a time when everyone is so bottom line focused that we cause people to work under highly stressful situations. We come from a time when “FTE” (staffing) reductions on a regular basis are the norm rather than the exception. We work under incredible stress. That is the same for me, and I don’t know how much more of it I can handle. I am so tired of the same old song and dance. What has happened to our world?

I spent some time today with my wife. I really enjoy her. I look around me, and see so many situations where the husband and wife no longer like each other and have quit being good friends. I just can’t imagine my life without such a good friend at my side.

She doesn’t judge me (Most of the time) and has stuck by me through thick and thin (and loss of hair). It is hard to imagine life without her. I have enjoyed being with her today, with no work to interfer with our time together.

The Weather of My Mind09 Sep 2005 10:12 pm

Experienced some highly unusual weather today. I was in Nephi (not exactly a metropolis) and while there we had three incredible cloudbursts. For Utah, this was a lot of water. It would pour for 5 minutes and then be real sunny. Then tonight, in Payson, we had what appeared to be a wind shear. Nearly blew the house down. It has been a real weird weather day.

Got up early this morning as I normally do. It is a blowing and a howling outside. That kind of noise, plus the fact that when I get up it is now dark, remind one that winter is on it’s way. It would be nice sometime if we got the snow in the high country, but it was just so nice down here. No chance though.
