Vacation
Will be going on vacation, hopefully, by the end of this week. Postings are going to be sparse for the next little while as we will be preparing to leave, and then will be gone for a while. Hopefully, I will have somethign worthwhile to say when we return.
What do you Think?
What do you think, does this building look like what you might think the Tower of Babel would look like??

Its that time for honoring
Today is Fathers Day. I had the traditional visits from my children, hugs, kisses, a candy bar from the Relief Society at the conclusion of Sacrament meeting (well that is one gift I wont be able to eat), and then the traditional phone calls.
I received a very nice call from Brian in Wyoming. They had a good time camping out yesterday which brought back memories of fathers and sons outings that I went on with my boys and some that I went on with my dad. Sometimes we got a little cold, a little wet, or slept very little, but we did have a good time.
I heard from Gordon on the phone. He was doing well and we loved having him and his bride with us yesterday when we went and saw Batman Begins. What a great show. We also went to dinner at PF Changs, and were having so much fun that we literally didnt leave until they were about ready to close down the place.
Chris, Michael, and Julie were here today. I received the kisses and appreciation that children provide. It was fun being with them. I didnt want to do the cooking (grilling I should say) but somehow was sweet talked into it by my daughter. Daughters can always do that to dads.
I thought of the times that I had been with my dad. I love my dad. He brought me up in this world and he spent the time that was necessary to make sure that I had a good childhood. I hope that I have been at least a little bit like him. He is a terrific example, a wonderful dad, and I love him.
A great Mom and Dad
I thought of Dad Cox. Mel was an incredible person. I often tell those that I meet that he was one of the most Christian people I have ever met. He would give you the shirt off of his back if it was required. He would do that for people other than family too. I have always felt that he was a wonderful Grandpa Cox for my intrepid little band of warriors.
A Wonderful Grandfather
Of course, we should forget the women. Mom Cox and Mom Hardy have been terrific too. They have been what I had always hoped for in mothers. I should have spent some time on Mothers Day writing about them, but as is always the case, I forget to do things like that. However, I have been blessed with wonderful parents all around. I couldnt ask for better progenitors. Whew!
Two Wonderful Mothers
Isnt it great to have terrific family. I wish everyone were as blessed as I am.

Proof Positive
Here is proof positive that Chris had some help in moving his “household” possessions. Those pinball games were heavy, though I experienced it through my muscular boys.
Chris had the family moving computers, putting together entertainment centers, and moving the beds. It was a good day.

How Do I Know It’s Friday!?!?
How in the heck would I know it is Friday. Well, we are creatures of schedules, and in our neighborhood, Friday morning is Garbage Truck time.
Every Friday morning, if you are trying to sleep, the sound of the garbage truck can be heard miles away, at least it seems that way. The stop, the go, the stop again, the lifting of the plastic can to the top of the truck, reveberate for miles around.
There are three positive results to this commotion. If you have forgotten to get your garbage out the night before, then you have a chance, probably half dressed, to run out and get your garbage can to the curb before that slow moving truck makes it there.
If you have been lucky enough to sleep in, the arrival of the truck is a sure wake up call that you need to get out of the sack and go to work.
Whats the final and best thing about this weekly noise? Well, it means, Friday is here and the weekend is not far behind. Thursday night is garbage night, the night when we gather the wonderful refuse int he house and get it out to the curb. Friday mornig means the weekend is coming. Here comes the weekend, and that is another story.

Monuments
I have had a picture of the Salt Lake Temple as my wallpaper on my computer for the last two weeks or so.
That picture brings back a lot of memories, all good ones. Such memories include:
1-Bonnie and I getting married in that temple
2-Being sealed to my parents in that temple in 1964
3-Doing my own temple work in that temple
4-Many friends and family being married in that temple.
Most importantly, that temple is a symbol of my faith. In some ways, it stands for, in my mind, all the things that being a “Mormon” stands for.
It stands for being true to our Savior. It stands for being true to the church. It stands for learning the truth and living the way that we should live. It stands for our relationship to our God. I am proud to be a Latter-Day Saint. I am grateful I have been allowed to be associated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Well, Here we go Again
Well, here we go again. The oldest soon needs “help” (Such as it may be) moving. He has been hounding us to come out to Wyoming and visit, so I guess we are going to “help” him move. It is a veiled attempt to get us to move back to Cheyenne I am sure.
He knows I like it there, and he just wants me to pine away after our old homestead and city. So, I guess we are going to “help” him to move. He probably doesn’t really realize what he is getting himself into. I mean, what help are two old over 50 people going to provide. Sure, we are bringing along two real strong young studs with us, but all everyone will want to do when we get there is talk.
We will be good parents, and suffer through this 9 hour drive (7 if you are Chris, but then that is another story). We will help him move, and my guess is that the aches and pains we experience come that night and the next day will put Chris to shame. Watch out King Soopers, your medicines are not going to be safe.

Sickness
Today was one of those rare days when I came home from work early. I just didn’t feel good and couldn’t concentrate. I think it has some to do with my having diabetes. I am hoping I can limit the days I feel lousy, but today was one of those days when it didn’t matter what I do. I will be better tomorrow.
Shouldn’t It Be Summer By Now
Shouldnt it be summer by now? For Heaven’s sake, Utah is part of a desert. Sure, it was made to blossom as a rose, but only because of the miracle of irrigation. Still, this is a desert and it should be getting hot, like more than 70 degrees during the day, and the rain should be stopping.
I woke up this morning to rain showers and it rained most of the day. With the weirdness of the weather, that is spring in June, I would swear I had moved back to Wyoming. We had a real noisy rain storm on Monday and the weather has stayed pretty much that way since then. When I moved here, the area was in drought. I must have brought the rain, since it has rained and snowed a lot since we moved here.
It used to be that whenever my parents came to visit us in Wyoming, the rains or snow would come. We even had a tornado sighting when they came one time. I used to joke with them about there charging the locals for rain as they would always help break droughts, etc. Maybe I should charge the state of Utah for our part in breaking the drought.
