I know why One Eyed Willy saved the Goonies! Mikey says it just before the Fratellis show up again. The Goonies left Willy "his" loot- the stuff in the dish in front of him. The blond girl put her hand into the dish to take it and Mikey stops her and says, "No, that's Willy's." Remember? And then when the Fratellis show up they take it out of the dish, triggering yet another amazing feat of engineering, rotting rope and gravity, and makes the whole contraption start to self destruct.
