When you could buy a candybar for a nickel and kids respected their elders

Oh, I felt my age today. I’d say I felt my age times two. I had been doing my regular morning routine.

You know, wake up to the sound of the hardware store, read up some email and then take a shower with very limited hot water.

In other words, the morning grind.

Well, I got into the truck and started driving off to work when I had a good idea.

One that would find all that I wanted on e-bay. I couldn’t find a ahem, Xanadu poster, and so I set up a wish list. I thought that had to be the slickest thing. So I was driving to Work, congratulating myself

Self:”Self, you sure did good with this ebay stuff”
Me: “Why thank you, I know”.

Self: “You know, you ought to think of buying other things off of e-bay.
Me: Mental note to self. No pen in truck, keep in mind this wish list .

The only problem was that by the time I had driven a block, I promptly forgot what I wanted to look up on e-bay!

I can feel my crazy/grumpy/forgetful old man days coming. This week, I’m going to be out and about looking for some nice plaid sans-a-belt slacks and standing in my yard yelling “Kids! Kids! Do not walk on my lawn! I’m trying to sleep. Don’t make me call your parents!”

Oh, I can’t wait to wreak havoc as an old man..

Er wait..

An older man.
