I still think it is a publicity stunt.
Frankly, the best I can hope for was that it started as a stunt, and in an 80s movie twist sort of way, they actually ended up liking each other, a la “Can’t Buy Me Love.”

Maybe Tom is going through his mid-life crisis and he just needs a younger wife to make himself feel better! I think that it is just gross that younger women want to be with men that are old enough to be their fathers.
